Seoul, South Korea – February 28, 2026 – HYBE and Big Hit Music have officially confirmed that BTS’s highly anticipated free comeback performance, titled BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG, at Gwanghwamun Square will be limited to approximately one hour. The decision prioritizes audience safety, crowd control, and operational efficiency in the unique public outdoor venue.
The event, scheduled for 8:00 PM KST on March 21, 2026, celebrates the release of BTS’s fifth full-length studio album ARIRANG and marks the group’s first full-group stage following the completion of military service by all members. As a free public concert in the heart of Seoul, it is expected to draw massive crowds, with police estimates projecting up to 260,000 attendees across the area, including extensions toward Deoksugung and Sungnyemun.
In an official statement released today, HYBE addressed circulating rumors suggesting the duration was restricted by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. The agency clarified: “The Seoul Metropolitan Government has never limited the Gwanghwamun Square concert to one hour. The concert duration was decided by HYBE and Big Hit Music.” They emphasized comprehensive considerations including the outdoor public setting (unlike conventional concert halls), on-site audience safety, crowd management, public transportation convenience, and late-night noise levels.
“The performance time has been set to run for an appropriate duration to ensure safe and smooth operations,” HYBE stated, underscoring their proactive choice to maintain control and minimize risks in a high-density environment.
Access to prime viewing zones will be ticketed via a lottery system. Reservations opened earlier this month through platforms like Weverse for global fans and NOL Ticket for general onsale (limited to one ticket per person), with entry restricted to selected participants. Large screens are planned near Seoul Plaza to allow more fans to watch. The concert will also stream live globally on Netflix, reaching audiences in over 190 countries.
This landmark event follows BTS’s full reunion and precedes their upcoming world tour. It highlights the group’s cultural significance, set against the historic backdrop of Gwanghwamun Square—symbolizing a bridge between Korea’s heritage and modern global influence. Nearby Gyeongbokgung Palace will close to regular visitors on March 21 to support logistics.
As excitement builds for ARIRANG’s premiere tracks alongside timeless hits, the one-hour format ensures a high-energy, tightly packed showcase while keeping safety first for ARMY worldwide.
