BTS leader RM has publicly apologized following a recent livestream that sparked intense discussion among fans, after his honest comments about the group’s long hiatus, personal struggles, and thoughts on the future gained widespread attention.
On December 8, RM reached out to fans through Weverse, acknowledging that his unexpected honesty may have caused unnecessary concern.
“I think I made many ARMYs feel exhausted and worried,” he said. “I received a lot of messages checking up on me. Looking back, I probably shouldn’t have gone live that day… my frustration just got ahead of me. I’m sorry. Please be kind to me a little longer.”
RM reassured fans that he is staying focused on his work, sharing that he is deeply immersed in music production, choreography practices, and preparing new content. Along with his message, he posted a finger-heart photo as a gentle gesture to calm worried fans.
What Happened During the Livestream
During his December 6 livestream, RM spoke honestly about the group’s prolonged inactivity as a full team, expressing the pressure he has felt since returning from military service.
He revealed that many people had questioned why BTS appeared inactive throughout the latter half of 2025. In response, RM explained that the members never intended to “waste time” but that there were situations behind the scenes that he was not authorized to disclose.
He admitted that the lack of activity weighed on him so heavily that he struggled with sleep, even contemplating whether he might need medical help to cope with the stress.
“I really wanted to come back with something sooner,” he shared. “It’s already been over three years since our last full concert in October 2022.”
RM said that the group could not rush a comeback simply because fans were waiting. The scale of BTS’ return, he emphasized, required careful planning, coordination, and conditions that must be met before anything is released.
His Thoughts on the Team and Their Future
In one of the most talked-about moments, RM confessed that he had repeatedly wondered whether “stepping back or even disbanding” might be easier during times of overwhelming pressure. However, he stressed that the group remains united because of their deep respect for one another and their love for ARMY.
“Even when things are difficult, the reason we continue is because of the members and because of all of you,” he said.
Despite the concerns raised from the livestream, BTS is still firmly moving toward their highly anticipated full-team comeback, currently targeted for March 2026. Preparations are reportedly underway, with members dedicating themselves to rehearsals and production work.
RM ended his message by thanking fans for their patience and promising that BTS will return when they can present something truly meaningful.
