The 25-year-old star, best known for her heartfelt performances in dramas like Hidden Love and The Romance of Tiger and Rose, has not only captivated audiences across Asia, but built a passionate global fanbase. Western fans have embraced her for more than just her roles—they see in her a rare blend of authenticity, emotional depth, and raw vulnerability.
But behind the scenes, Zhao says, she was enduring a very different reality.
A Star’s Pain, A Studio’s Silence
Over the weekend, Zhao posted a series of explosive revelations on Weibo, accusing her agency of financial exploitation, emotional manipulation, and total abandonment during her period of illness.
“They took my money,” Zhao wrote in a deeply personal statement. “They dismantled my studio without my consent. And when I was at my lowest—physically and mentally—they vanished.”
She alleged the company illegally withdrew 2.05 million yuan (approx. $285,000) from her studio’s funds after she had to cancel endorsements while undergoing medical treatment. According to Zhao, KU continued to block her from regaining control of her disbanded studio and stonewalled attempts to end her contract.
Even more chilling were the warnings she says she received: “They told me I’d be blacklisted if I spoke out.”

The Voice of a Generation
Zhao’s defiant words—“You don’t need to blacklist me. I quit.”—resonated like thunder across Chinese social media. But the impact didn’t stop there. Fans from every corner of the globe, rose in solidarity, launching hashtags like #JusticeForZhaoLusi and #FreedomForRosy to demand answers, accountability, and her unconditional freedom.
This wasn’t just the rebellion of an actress—it was a moment of empowerment for countless fans and creatives who have felt silenced, dismissed, or trapped in exploitative contracts.
And perhaps that’s why Zhao’s stand hits so hard. She’s not just a celebrity. She’s a symbol of resilience.

The Agency’s Denial, and Zhao’s Retort
In response to her viral post, Galaxy Kuyu Media issued a statement the following day, expressing “shock” and denying any breach of contract. The company insisted they had always respected Zhao’s wellbeing and offered her full support.
Zhao didn’t hesitate to call them out.
“What exactly are you shocked about?” she fired back. “Where were you when I was taking medicine and inhaling oxygen just over a week ago?”
She also questioned their silence during critical periods, pointing out the irony of their sudden concern only once her accusations became public.
Mental Health, Courage, and Community
Zhao’s struggle isn’t new. In an earlier post this year, she revealed she’s battled depression since 2019—battles she says were compounded by her agency’s refusal to offer support. Her post described a painful decline: from constant dizziness and vomiting to severe weight loss. In those moments, she says, the very people meant to protect her simply “disappeared.”
Yet, out of that darkness, Zhao is now reclaiming her narrative—and fans are right there with her.
The Zhao Lusi International Fan Community released a powerful statement calling the agency’s actions “a betrayal of human dignity” and demanded Zhao be freed from her contract immediately.
A New Chapter Begins
In a livestream held today held today, Zhao Lusi appeared bright and composed, offering reassurance to her fans who have expressed growing concern following her revelations. “I’m feeling great now, I’m gonna eat noodles for lunch today!” she said with a smile. “The reason why I turned on live today is to let you guys see that I’m not crazy and that I’m feeling great, so don’t worry about me.”
The purpose of the livestream, Zhao explained, was simply to share a glimpse of her normal daily life and calm any fears. But she didn’t shy away from reiterating her stance. “I’ve just had enough and I’m not gonna tolerate it anymore. What’s right is right and what’s wrong is wrong.”
