BigHit Music has officially addressed long-standing rumors about BTS member Jimin’s personal life, confirming for the first time that he was once in a relationship with actor Song Da-eun.
On August 31, the agency released a statement acknowledging that Jimin and Song Da-eun “formed a relationship based on mutual feelings many years ago.” However, BigHit emphasized that the two “are not in a relationship at this moment,” clarifying that the connection belongs firmly in the past.
The rare confirmation came after speculation reignited when Song Da-eun posted a video of Jimin online, sparking renewed attention from fans and media. Korean outlet Money Today reported that the two had briefly dated, with rumors suggesting their connection may have overlapped with the period when Jimin enlisted for mandatory military service in late 2023.
BigHit explained that it had initially chosen not to respond to such stories “out of respect for Jimin’s private life” and for those mentioned alongside him. But with “groundless rumors and false reports spreading,” the label said it felt compelled to set the record straight with “only the minimum facts.”
The company further urged fans and the public to refrain from spreading speculation, stressing that such rumors could cause harm not only to Jimin but also to others linked to his name.
As expected, reactions online have been mixed. Given Jimin’s global stature and symbolic place within BTS, such discussions naturally stir both curiosity and debate among fans. Many supporters have emphasized respect for his privacy, while others expressed surprise at the agency’s rare acknowledgment of a dating rumor.
This marks the first time BigHit Music has publicly confirmed a dating rumor involving a BTS member. While members like Jungkook and V have been the subject of similar speculation in the past, the agency had consistently declined to comment.
For Jimin, however, the clarification closes a chapter that fans have debated for years, with the singer’s team drawing a clear line: the relationship was real, but it ended long ago
