Stray Kids has just hit another major milestone—one that sets them apart even in the crowded world of K-pop superstars. Their Japanese EP “Hollow,” released less than a month ago on June 18, has officially been certified Triple Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), marking over 750,000 physical shipments in just a few weeks.

This is more than just a shiny certification—it’s a powerful statement about their influence. In Japan, where the RIAJ certifies records monthly based on shipment volume, hitting Gold means 100,000 units, Platinum requires 250,000, Double Platinum is 500,000, and Triple Platinum is the next rarefied tier. Only a handful of K-pop acts ever climb this high.
While other rising stars like ENHYPEN and LE SSERAFIM also scored certifications this month—ENHYPEN’s “Desire: Unleash” went Platinum (250,000 units), and LE SSERAFIM’s “Different” earned a Gold (100,000 units)—Stray Kids is operating on a whole different level in terms of sheer volume.
A Unique Approach to the Japanese Market
What makes “Hollow” even more impressive is that all five tracks on the EP are brand new, original songs written specifically for the Japanese release. This is a major pivot from the typical strategy of repackaging Korean hits with Japanese lyrics. Stray Kids chose instead to give fans fresh content—underscoring their dedication and understanding of the Japanese market.
The rollout paid off fast: on its release day alone, “Hollow” sold over 600,000 copies and topped iTunes Top Albums charts in 21 regions. It also debuted at No. 1 on Oricon’s Weekly Album and Combined Album Rankings, reinforcing their chart dominance.
Their global tour “Dominate” is currently sweeping across continents, with their next stop scheduled in Amsterdam. Meanwhile, the group’s artistic direction, production involvement, and stage presence continue to set new standards in the industry.
