Global K-pop sensation BLACKPINK is kicking off their new world tour, DEADLINE, with a groundbreaking commitment to sustainability, setting a new precedent for environmentally conscious concerts in the music industry.
Ahead of the tour’s opening shows in Goyang, YG Entertainment announced a landmark partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), a United Nations agency, to support renewable energy initiatives in conflict-affected regions. Through the purchase of Peace Renewable Energy Certificates (P-REC), BLACKPINK will offset a portion of the tour’s energy consumption, making them the first Korean artists to participate in such a program.

The proceeds from the P-REC purchase will be reinvested in South Sudan to support humanitarian projects, including the installation of electricity at higher education institutions impacted by civil conflict. This initiative goes beyond environmental offsets—it contributes to peacebuilding, energy access, and job creation in vulnerable regions.
In addition, YG and BLACKPINK are introducing new sustainability features to enhance fan engagement while reducing the environmental impact of live events. At the Goyang concerts on July 5 and 6, fans will be introduced to "BLACKPINK Water," a limited-edition beverage in recyclable paper cartons. Custom-designed recycling stations will be installed at the venue, and a portion of the sales proceeds will be donated to resource circulation projects in Korea.

The concerts will also bring back the fan-favorite “YOUR GREEN STEP” booth, launched in 2023, which allows attendees to measure their carbon footprint and learn how to reduce it. Another booth, created in collaboration with the British Embassy, highlights BLACKPINK’s longstanding involvement in global climate action, dating back to 2020.
These efforts are part of YG Entertainment’s wider push toward sustainable touring. In 2024, the company became the first Korean entertainment label to publish a comprehensive Sustainability Performance Report, outlining seven core principles for sustainable concerts—ranging from emissions management to accessibility and venue safety. Those principles are now being put into action throughout the DEADLINE tour, which will span 31 shows across 16 cities.
Each concert will open with a short film underscoring the group’s eco-conscious message, aiming to raise awareness among fans worldwide.
