YG Entertainment announced today that TREASURE member Kim Junkyu will temporarily suspend all group activities to focus on rest and recovery amid ongoing health concerns.
In an official statement, the agency explained that Junkyu had been pushing through promotions for TREASURE’s recent mini album despite struggling with poor physical condition. After careful discussions involving the artist, his close circle, and the company, it was decided that he needs a period of focused stability and rest.
“Based on the artist’s own opinion and the judgment of those around him that he requires focused stability and rest for the time being, it has been decided that he will temporarily halt his activities and take a period of rest,” the statement read. As a result, Junkyu will not participate in upcoming TREASURE activities, including the planned music video shoot for the B-side track “DANGER.”
The agency added that the members and staff will fully support Junkyu so he can return in good health as soon as possible, and they asked fans for warm understanding and encouragement.
Junkyu’s Touching Handwritten Letter to Fans
Alongside the announcement, Junkyu shared a heartfelt handwritten letter on the fan community platform Weverse, reflecting on his six years with TREASURE (debuting in 2020) and expressing gratitude to fans, known as TREASURE MAKER.
“Hello, TREASURE MAKER! This is Junkyu,” the letter begins. “It has already been six years since I debuted in 2020 and have been running alongside TREASURE MAKER. During that time, I received so much love that every moment felt like a miracle and brought me happiness.”
He continued, “But as I kept pushing forward with my eyes fixed only ahead, I think I gradually began to miss the voice and signals inside me. I have always wanted to show only my best side, so I realized that the time had come for me to stop for a moment and look back on myself.”
Junkyu apologized for any worry caused by the sudden news but expressed optimism: “But I want to believe this pause is a time for me to become healthier and happier. I will definitely come back to meet you again with a smile. Thank you always, and I love you.”
